Term 1
In term 1, students will learn about the four ways they can use their voice (shouting, speaking, whispering and singing). They will practice those voices by singing songs and telling stories that involve using those voices, as well as using their voices to go high and low. They'll also start matching pitch, which is very important for learning to sing.
Term 3
In term 3, students will review concepts learned in terms 1 and 2 by learning folk songs from different countries. Students will continue to develop their singing voices and movement vocabulary, as well as feeling steady beat and learning the basics of playing percussion instruments.
Term 4
In term 4, PreK and Kindergarten students will continue learning the basics of music through singing, saying, dancing and playing. The focus is on singing and playing songs with a proper understanding of singing voice, steady beat and rhythm. Along the way, students will learn about high vs. low and beat vs. no beat. Students will also learn and perform songs and activities about frogs.
Term 5
Term 5 is all about the concert! We will be presenting "We're Going On a Bear Hunt", complete with narration, pictures, movement, instruments and voices. Come join us on May 30!
